Idun Shawl
So, I’ve been working on some hats lately and picking up old wip blankets/throws and working on several different things. I also have recently been requested to get some scarf patterns too. I’m thinking maybe I could make a horror scarf, hmmmm whatca think?
This shawl is a favorite pattern of mine, I mean I made it for my wedding pictures. It’s going to hold a special place in my heart! Its super lacy but enough that it isn’t like why am I wearing a shawl, its doing nothing against the wind/cold.
Keeping on with the freebie patterns, here’s the Idun Shawl pattern! Its also available on Etsy.

Repeat Rows 3-5 till shawl reaches the desired length ending on a row 3
(ending on row 3 will give the edging that picot look)
Tassels are completely optional. The ones used above, I call curtain tassels.
Tassels:
This is very similar to making pom poms
Find an object that is about the length of the tassels you want to make that you can wrap yarn around (I used an Ipsy makeup bag)
Wrap it around multiple times, the more you wrap it the thicker the tassel is, once you’ve wrapped it to the desired thickness, take a shorter piece of yarn and run it through the top underneath all the wrapped yarn and tie it off (this will be the top of the tassel)
Cut the bottoms now or slide them off and cut the bottoms to make separate ends
About half an inch to an inch down tie a knot around the stitches (this will create the bulbous top) and trim the edges
Attach the tassel at the end of each row
