Botanical Bag-pattern re-release

I love getting to have pretty beach bags, and since its summer time, I figured it was time to re-release the Botanical Bag Pattern. It is still one of my favorites. I’ve learned a lot in the past year+ and am enjoying the new way I type up patterns and gather it all together. So, with that in mind, I’ll be going through a bunch of old patterns and redoing them and bringing them to the year 2022.

I also love getting to hear from all of you and what all you like and what you don’t like. All the things for patterns that you’re looking for. I have been making more bags lately and I can’t wait to show you all of them and get them ready to release. Those horror bags, I had thought of last year, I have a few I finally got to work on so there will be some of those coming soon.

Also as always I want to issue a huge thank you to each and every one of you for your continued support! You’re amazing!

As always you can get a copy via Etsy and Ravelry with a chart.

grommets, and the holes you can.

There are 2 options for the backside. I highly recommend for the last few rows double checking with the chart as well so you can plot out which handle option you would like.

Finish Off

Back Panel:

You can repeat the above and have it two sided, or the following is another option. This is worked using a shell stitch.

Go up a hook size or two if you are a tight crocheter. I am a loose crocheter so my tension will be a bit different.

Pattern: Ch 43

Row 1: 2 dc in 4th ch from hook, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch, *skip 2 ch, 4 dc, in next ch, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch;* repeat from * to * turn

Row 2: Ch 3, 2dc in first sc, skip 2dc, *sc between 2nd and 3rd dc of next group in space, skip 2 dc, 4dc in next sc, skip 2 dc,: Repeat from * to * ending with 1 sc in space between last dc and ch 3

Repeat Row 2, 26 more times giving you a total of 24 rows. Make sure each panel is the same size.

Next to last row: Ch 2, hdc, 1 sc between 2nd and 3rd dc (in space),

*4 hdc in sc from prior row, 1 sc between 2nd and 3rd dc,* repeat till

end of the row ending with a hdc in last st

Last row: Ch 1, sc across and finish off

Assembly:

With front sides facing each other whip stitch the two together on three sides leaving the top open.

*Add grommets into holes on each side

(If adding handles, add the handles to the tops)

*Tassels are completely optional as well as beads. Mine were about 14 inches long.

*If you want the tassels for the entire bottom, I recommend using one string per tassel to give it more of that beachy boho look.

Other Optional Accoutrements:

*Feel free to line your bag as well. Using the hemp yarn, you should not have any larger holes of any kind. Several testers lined theirs and loved it.

*To add beads, make sure to tie under each bead to secure it in the location you are wanting it to hang. Because yarn is a 5 weight, you will need beads with much bigger holes to thread the bead
