Love Wins
“Being yourself is never the wrong to do”
Pride month is one of my favorite months. I have as long as I can remember had family and friends in the LGBTQIA+ community. I have long since considered myself an ally as well. I want people to be able to express their love for one another without feeling a need to hide or feel like “they aren’t right” or whatever other horrible thing that’s been said. I know there’s tons of multitudes more that has been said to probably any and everyone in the community and for that I’m sorry that happened to you, This is a safe place here, no bullies are tolerated and I see you. You’re worthy and loved! If you are struggling, I highly recommend reaching out to The Trevor Project. They are available 24/7 and are there to help you!
My inspiration was the Progress Pride flag, and I wanted to make a version of it that was not just straight out making it but inspired by it. I thought it would be neat to make the colors of the flag into squares and also to have hearts in multiple colors on some or all squares then top off the border with the Trans Flag colors. That was the idea behind it. O, and to sew a fun fabric on the back because I hadn’t done that before.
I had basically decided to try like 4 different things either I don’t usually do or I haven’t done, but I figured for what I was wanting, I could totally take that leap.
While I was blocking, I had set up the hearts I had made and was deciding how to sew them on, I settled on the top and side for them, but definitely thought the below option would be fun as well.
The other plan I had was to use Furls Crochet yarn for the whole project. I know they do a bunch for Pride Month and are one of those companies that are a true ally and I wanted to use their yarn for the vision I had. I used in total…15 of their colors. Luckily I had most already on hand, but didn’t mind getting some more from them. And I also got to work on it and find out about their Glitter Pride Streamline hook that came out this month. Which, if you haven’t seen, its gorgeous. I mean its a pure glitter rainbow hook.
Here’s a progress video of how it all started and then the end when I finally got to go get pics.
Long and short, this pattern means a ton to me and was one of my biggest projects to date. I got to use some yarn from a fabulous company who is a true ally and got to make a throw blanket that makes me so incredibly happy! That I hope you love. You can pick it up in my Etsy or Ravelry shops and it is included in the 60% off that the subscribers get this month <3. There are a few YouTube stitch tutorials in the works for this as well, and with that, we can end with the slew of pics and also my tester pics! Happy Crocheting!
